The Dot Project 2020 - JJA

For this project, we were given coffee filters and were instructed to use different types of media. These media included; watercolor paint, watercolor markers, crayons, oil pastels, and markers. We then got to make whatever design we pleased and add the different media to it. Once they were how we wanted them, we got to paint on it with water. It was fascinating to watch the different media bleed and blend together.

Extension Activity:
An extension activity I would first read The Dot book to my students. I then would give my students a paper plate and have them design their own "dot", that dot being the plate as a whole. They would be able to use multiple types of media and I would encourage them to make it their own. After the students completed their "dots",  I will then create a bulletin board to display their artwork.

Extension Activity:
An extension activity that I personally would do would have to do with color. I choose color because I think that it is one of the most used and important elements. I would do an activity geared towards  Kindergarteners and them learning their colors. I would choose to do a scavenger hunt around the room that would help the children to find, learn, and identify their colors. This would also help them to practice writing the names of colors, thus improving memory of the names of each color. Students would be partnered up and have to go find the different objects i have given them on paper and identify the color of that object. Each pair of partners would have different, very basic objects. This would ensure that they truly could find and identify what the color of that object was. The students then have to write the color next to that object on a paper. In the end, they will be turned in for grading. The next day our review will be to have them, partner, back up and discuss.

Footprint Introduction 2020 - JJA

This art project is called Footprint Introduction. My art teacher had us trace our footprint on 12x18 construction paper. The requirements for this was to introduce yourself through different pictures and drawings on the paper. We had to use at least three different kinds of media. I choose multiple different pieces/drawings to describe myself. I choose the different kinds of art such as the paintbrush, the calligraphy, and the doodling to express my love for those things and art itself. I added the basketball and the Oklahoma City Thunder tag to show my love for NBA and OKC. I drew the leaf to represent autumn because it is my favorite season. I absolutely love to read, therefore I added a little book that shows my favorite author and book. I also added a drawing of people that says family and friends and a drawing of my dog Sadie, this represents how much those who are close to me mean to me. I added the music notes and headphones to represent how much I love to listen to music and finally I added the apple that says teacher, to represent the excitement I have for becoming a future teacher. This was just a little clip of the things that are important to me and that I love. This was a very fun and simple art project, that would be great to use with many different ages.

Extension Activity:
An extension activity that I would do with this project, would be to have the student create this project first. I would then do a follow-up paper that could later be attached to the footprint. This paper would need to be one page in length. It would need to be written about a couple of the drawings/pieces of art that were on the footprint. Students can explain why they love what they love or why these things are important to them. In this paper, the students must include the members of their family and what their favorite subject in school is and why. Students can also include their favorite quotes or other things that they feel are interesting about them. The main idea of the paper will be to get a deeper look into the student's personalities and to gain an understanding of who they are as an individual.
